With forty-one employees dispersed across two operating sites and at the company’s main office, manual timekeeping tasks had become nearly a full time job requirement. In 2005, Southern began the search for an automated solution to this problem and selected iGuard. Using iGuard’s biometric scanner to capture TIME IN and TIME OUT records for each employee on a daily basis, the chore of timekeeping was nearly eliminated.

Since my customers demand from us a high security level, I look for the best security solution on the market. After analyzing different possibilities, I selected iGuard because it was the best option at a very affordable price. Other security system options were 4 or 5 times the iGuard price and only offered half the features. Moreover, with other systems I needed to install additional equipment and software.
With iGuard, my customers’ information is protected; nobody can have access to our installations without our authorization or their previous enrollment into the system. The system is complimented by an alarm that is automatically activated if a movement is detected in our offices. I can police the system from home or from any other place when needed, using iGuard’s Internet capabilities.
We have increased our profits by not having to hire a security administrator and not setting up a time sheet program. iGuard database sends the time attendance information directly to the payroll department to be processed. When we were developing plans for our new corporate headquarters facility, we wanted to incorporate the latest and best technology available, down to and including the building security system. We wanted to eliminate the use of keys in every place we could, and biometrics gave us the ability to do that.
We reviewed dozens of potential systems and after an extensive search, including a business trip to an industrial security trade show where we could see systems first-hand, we selected iGuard. System design was right, the features were right – and the price was right. We found iGuard to be easy to install, configure, use and administer.
We wanted to place two units outside, so we installed them with weatherproof enclosures. One of the enclosures was located on a southerly exposure and heat build-up inside the box from the afternoon Florida sun became an issue. Working on a grant from our company, engineering students from the University of Central Florida quickly solved the problem with a small, economical heat exchanger system for the enclosure box.

Not only did it simplify the administration of access rights for all our engineers, it also gave the management team remote control of the building via the Internet as well.
